

God decides what is good, and what is bad (Deut 32:4) Goodness is about what God wants, not what we want. Main Idea: Goodness is a moral quality that corresponds to what God says is right!Īs people who have put our faith in Jesus, Christians should seek to do what is good, and to live according to what God says we should do. We can love our enemies, we can respond not in anger, but peacefully, and we can trust in God’s plan and purpose even when things don’t go our way.

How can we show gentleness to those who are against us like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane? This reminder teaches us not to condemn and judge others who are sinners just like us, but to point them to their need for God’s forgiveness and grace. Jesus did not excuse the woman’s sin, but he showed her grace and reminded us that we are all sinners. How did the story of Jesus and the adulterous woman show us how we can respond gently to others? Hopefully you can think of somebody who has been gentle and meek towards you, and provided you an example of how we can respond to others and treat them in every situation. He can teach us from the Bible to know how God wants us to act (Psalm 19), and He will empower us to live in that way, instead of just doing what we feel like in any moment. Have your children think about what causes them to do what they do, as much as they can explain and understand.Ĭan you remember a time when you lost control?
